Prior to becoming a student at the University at Buffalo, I did not have any real set of long-term goals for myself. As in "real" goals, I mean goals that I have determinedly tried to fulfill. My future did not mean much to me because I thought I would always be able to rely on my parents as I did until I left for college. Now that I am living independently without my parents, I have realized the importance of knowing what I want for myself futuristically. Therefore, I have set my first long-term goals during the first semester at the University at Buffalo as a business student.
My utmost important goal can be considered a clichÐ"© to some people because so many people declare it as their own goal in college. This goal is to achieve a 3.8 GPA and maintain it throughout my entire college life. I decided to set this as my goal because of all the competition I will be facing while looking for a job. Competition is very common in the New York City business world, which is where I plan on working after I graduate from college. One of the only ways I will be able to prove myself to be smarter and more hardworking than other applicants for the job will be with my GPA from college.
In order to maintain a 3.8 GPA, I will have to study very hard continuously. Going to parties or staying out late is not an option because every free time I have is crucial for me to study. Since my brain functions best in the morning, I will wake up everyday at 8. To help keep me on track with time, I have filled out a weekly planner setting apart my study time from my free time. Keeping track of my progress will be easy because the scores I receive from quizzes, tests, and papers should tell me about where my GPA will stand. Plus, at the end of the semester, I will receive official grades amounting to my exact GPA.
My other goal is not as important as my GPA goal, but it is important to me. That goal is to lose fifteen pounds by the end
