God is perfect ?
I havenЎЇt finished the GrecoЎЄRoman Mythology, although it is a course book, IЎЇm quite surprised to find out it is by no means a book that will sew your eyelids, so I read away most of my spare time in the last couple of weeks.
The images of the Gods and Goddesses, to a majority of people, have been regarded as falling within the sphere of perfect. But do not make such a snap jugement before you look into their lives.
Zeus, the supreme God of the heavens and the earth, as a matter of fact, was a conqueror of women, a Casanova and a philanderer. He married Hera, Queen of the Gods, the most beautiful and graceful Goddesse. However, Zeus was not satisfied with it, and had numerous affairs with other goddesses and mortal women outside. Hera could do nothing but being jealous and helpless.
One of his mistress, Metis, conceived a child. After consulting the Oracle of Delphi, Zeus was told that this child would overthrow him in the future, he feared the consequences and transformed Metis into a fly and swollowed her.
We never fail to find a man like Zeus in the society these days. Myths, to some extent, are the reflection of our real life. Like a mirrior, distinctly reflect the whole world.
Not a few women were cast away like a disposable diaper after helping the gods to accomplish therir sagas. I couldЎЇt help wondering what is the value for women existing in this world, a tool for men? or just a shadow, which is not really exist.
