Adverbs
In second grading, our first learned are the definition of adverbs and how to make a sentences using an adverb’s words. We learned that adverbs means to add or to change of a word. We find out that many adverbs end in “ly”, the example words are the financially, willfully, abruptly, endlessly, expertly, and etc. All this words are adverbs. And we keep in our minds the one function of adverbs is to intensity the meaning of the word it is modifying.
Here are the activity we did about adverbs. We make a
own sentences by using adverbs words.
“Goodbye and Grief in Realtime”
“Goodbye and Grief in Real Time” written by Brian Stelter. This is an article showing a journalist’s feelings named Scott Simon regarding to his beloved mother. Every posts in twitter, squeezed a universal story involving heartbreak and humor into 21 words. His mother is Patricia Lyons Simon Nemman, 84, suffering a cancer, a dangerous disease. Twitter users around the world were getting to know her, because of son, Simon. Many of his followers give an advice, prayed, and supported his mother. Where there’s a good comments about him, there’s also a bad comments of some citizens, that “Exploiting his mother’s last days for ratings and fame.” And according to Mr. Scott Simon, “I wasn’t holding my mother in my arms and tweeting with my free hands.” The death of his mother arrive, and still he thanks to his followers for the love, supports, and prayers.
In this article, we learned that whatever you posted in social medias, there’s has militate. It can’t avoid. But Mr. Scott Simon and his mother’s story are can obtain a moral lessons.

“Ida B. Wells-Barnett and her Passion for Justice”
The book described her an anti-lynching crusader, suffragist, women’s right advocate, a journalist, and speaker. For us, we describe her as a fearless woman, and a hero for his fellows. Because she did her best to get the fairness, rights and justice. Like the rights of women and the privileges of black skin people. The discrimination of women and black was stop because of her willingness, hardworking and fearless.
Because of Ida B. Wells-Barnett’s life, we learned that we should not afraid to fight our rights and justice as long as we knew that we’re right.

“The Lottery”
One of the story that we encountered in lesson 3, “Feeling for Others” is “The Lottery” by Shirley Jackson. All we want to say is the story is interesting because of the twist of the story. The story tell us that not all traditions are have a good benefits, some are dangerous.
The story describes a fictional small town which observes — as do many other communities, both large and small, throughout contemporary America — an annual ritual known as "the lottery"

“Dipthongs”
We learned that Dipthong is a vowel sound containing two elements, during the articulation of which the tongue, jaws and lips change their position. There are nine dipthongs, first is |ei|, this produced with the jaws closer together than for monothong |e|, the words are eight, date, gate, ate, main, pain, & etc. Second is the |ae|, the jaws are farther apart than for vowel. The words are the my, nine, reply, rise & etc. Third is the |au|, the jaws are apart and the lips are openly rounded. The words are the noise, annoying, boil, enjoy & etc. Fourth is the |ao|, is the same as in “bird” but shorter. The words are the no, coast, code, holy & etc. Fifth is the |au|, the words are the now, foul, crown, doubt & etc. Sixth is the |ie|, the jaw should not be too close together, nor the lips too tensely spread. The words are beer, cheer, dear, fear & etc. Seventh is the |ei|, the jaws are quite far apart and the lips are laxly spread. The words are the bear, chair, fair, hair & etc. Lastly, we learned the |ue|, this is combination of two vowels already described. The words are the tour, sure, pure, newer & ect.
“I Think Continually of Those Who Were Truly Great”
We had learned in the text “I think continually of those who were truly great”. The one who sacrifice their lives to save our country against conqueror, they are Dr. Jose Rizal, Andres Bonifacio & etc.

“Expressing Arguments and Fallacies”
First, is the Hasty Generalization, we learned that hasty generalization is making assumption a whole group or range of cases based on a sample inadequate. The example sentence is “All seamen are liars.” Maybe this is not true. Second is the Post Hoc or also called false. We learned that post hoc is a fallacy gets its name from Latin phrase “post hoc, ergo propter hoc”, which translates as “after this, therefore because of this”. Our own example is “When the teachers didn’t teach well, the students we’re have no learn”. Third is the Slippery Slope. We learned that this argument fallacy is arguer claims that a sort of chain reaction usually ending in some dire consequence, will take place, but there’s really not enough evidence for that assumption. Next is the Weak Analogy, we learned that if the two things that are being compared aren’t really alike in the relevant respect. Then lastly, the Appeal to Authority, we also learned that often add strength arguments by reffering to respected sources or authorities and explaining their positions on the issues we’re discussing.
