As Hard Rock Café has changed its strategy, how has its responses to some of the 10 decisions of OM changed?
The productivity of the kitchen staff and wait staff is determined by a “well-defined quantitative and qualitative criteria that reflect performance”. The system carefully track the number of items a table orders, the time it takes the kitchen to make the food and have it ready, the number of orders that the waiters serves versus the number of orders in a day. This will give the operations manager the exact time frame from when the customers placed the orders, to the time they received their food. To check the actual productivity number, the operations manager uses the “number of customers served divided by the number of hours each employee works” (Thompson, 2017).
Where does Hard Rock fit in the four international operations strategies outline in Figure 9. Explain your answer.
The ten decisions of operation management are different by the type of business they operate. The Hard Rock Café is a restaurant and Ford Motor Company is a car manufacturing company; which will have different operation management strategies. They are similar in the fact that they do use the 10 areas of operations management, just in a different way.
