I am a High School Varsity Cheerleader. Yes, one of those girls who prisses around in a short skirt, ponytail bobbing from side to side and a grin the couldn't possibly get any bigger. I might be recognized as a bobbsy air head who stands on the side lines, looks pretty while only responding to the commands "Ready? Ok!" Well, believe it or not I'm not one of THOSE girls. I'm just like every other athlete breaking a sweat to become the best. My senior year of high school I made the Varsity Cheerleading squad. If that wasn't enough I wanted more. I wanted to be the person every girl envied. I wanted to be the captain. If that were to happen I had to prove that I was a well rounded girl who excelled at being responsible, has dedication, teamwork, and being a leader. If I could juggle that and keep a 3.0 GPA then, I had a chance my dream would come true. My journey through proving myself was a long and valuable one. I learned many things not only from my team but my family, my coaches, teachers and friends. They were all worried about me becoming the bobbsy cheerleader. One of the things I learned was asking for help is ok. People respect you more because they know that you think your not perfect and its ok not to be. When it came down to school work I wanted to show how mature I was by keeping that 3.0 GPA. If I were to be any sort of role model I would want to do the very best I could at everything I did. I have many responsibilities being a senior and a cheerleader I to get myself up every morning go to school, make sure my homework was done and I had everything I needed to be prepared. If something needed to be done as soon as possible or needed to be worked on out of school I was sure I volunteered for as much as I could handle. This showed my dedication to my squad and my school.
