The Value of Education
Education is the window for all opportunities. Education has made it possible for our
society to prosper and flourish due to benefits it produces. We have made successful advances is
science and technology because of education. It has allowed man to recognize his full potential
and use it to his advantage. It is a statistical fact that education directly positively affects the
earnings that a person makes. From this evidence, it can be assumed that education is highly
important.
Many of my peers do not see the importance of doing well in school. They see school as
a pain rather than a privilege. Therefore, all throughout our school careers they do not apply
themselves, not realizing that excelling in school provides them with a chance to pursue a higher
education and eventually a career. We spend the majority of our pre-adult years in school and
once the recess phase is over, it goes wayward from there. We are bombarded with complex
equations, a myriad of important dates, and a bevy of seemingly useless vocabulary words. It’s
not until moments like when I am watching Jeopardy and I know the answer before any of the
contestants that I know that paying attention has paid off well.
Our society has flourished as well because of education. Scientists, mathematicians, and
various others have built upon various theories and explanations as well as created their own.
We have discovered planets, vaccinations, and species because someone possessed an apt mind
of discovery and also a foundation of basic skills that allowed them to have the knowledge that
such things existed. Societies where education is prominent are more civilized than ones where
it is not. Education leads to organization, order, and a well-functioning society.
Higher education is more tangible than just basic education. Higher paying jobs that hold
more opportunities than basic entry-level jobs are held by people who have college degrees.
Therefore, that fact is saying that although it is possible to excel by having a basic education, you
have a better chance of more prosperity, if you continue with your studies. With a college degree
you have the option of pursuing a career that truly challenges and excites, rather than just having
a job that will hold you over until you retire. Education holds a material value as well.
Education is not just valuable
