August 6, 1945, day of the bomb: At 3:00 A.M., Navy captain William S. Parsons, squatted in the bomb bay of the specially built B-29, the Enola Gay. Placing the explosive detonating charge through the tail of the bomb, which nick named “Little Boy”. It was intense and dangerous work the “Enola Gay” crew accomplished, as they flew over the Pacific Ocean, Dan Kurzman described. Dan Kurzman, writer of the book, did incredible research, along with his wife Florence, which became awarded. Hiroshima, one of the most important topics in history, was one of his favorite topics of all the war topics he researched, and wrote books on.

Kurzman, explains throughout the book the wonders of science that man discovered, which led closer to the destruction of mankind. Leo Szilard, thought, if the bomb was dropped, would not only ravage Japanese cities but would set the stage for Armageddon and total chaos. Just as he predicted it happened. Szilard was obsessed in saving the world ever since he was ten, Kurzman described, but he was the man that created the “Monster”, the destructor of all mankind, the atomic reaction. With his wise mind and great intelligence, he was the reason the atomic bomb was created. The closer he became creator of the bomb, the further he ran away from his allies, the enemy, the Nazi.

Atomic Energy was also a though of the great Einstein. Szilard a great student of Einstein, followed all of his steps to become as great as his professor. Albert Einstein and Leo Szilard gather together in 1939 in which they both agreed to write President Roosevelt urging him to build an atomic bomb before Hitler’s scientist could. Szilard had discovered the great atomic reaction, and he was well afraid that Hitler’s scientists would build one before the United States did. This Would’ve caused great consequences if Hitler had his hand on a atomic bomb Kurzman thought. “It would be the end of the world”, Kurzman said, if the Nazis got their hands on the secret of the nuclear reaction. Everything would have gone wrong.

Adolph Hitler, thought that one day he would be on top of the world ruling over everyone, but in the other hand he did kill millions of people. Was Hitler only to rule over his “own”, Kurzman thought. It was impossible to rule over the whole world when Hitler wanted to kill everyone. Or did Hitler wanted to get rid of all man living on earth. This were some of the thoughts and questions Kurzman had. It was hard to know what Hitler wanted to accomplish over his life. One of the decisions Roosevelt agreed to build the bomb was this man, except from the Pearl Harbor Attack.

While the Japanese kept their secret until Pearl Harbor was bombed, the Allies would keep theirs until the Hiroshima soil was bombed. Secret was a big issue in the war, “you can’t let the enemy know you secret or it will be worthless”, Kurzman described. The Japanese bombarded Peal Harbor without a warning, this meant they wanted war. Over two thousand soldiers died in this event, which was unpredictable. The unfairness of this horrible event, led to the great decision of the use of the atomic bomb. Kurzman described how the Allies planed the same secret the enemy used on the United States.

The big Secret was dropping “the monster” over Hiroshima soil without a single warning. Szilard thought this was going to be big in history, and his prediction was becoming true. Japan would pay for what they accomplished, and for breaking the peace they had with the Allies.
