This paper is on a small middle school in the south named Whitwell that changed lives. One day, the Principal sent out the assistant principal to search for a new, creative lesson to teach the students. The assistant principal came up with the Holocaust, which lead to the deaths of around 11 million people (6 million were Jews 5 million were gay people and gypsies.) The principal and the 8th grade teacher loved the idea. This town was very small and everyone was pretty much the same. There were only 5 African Americans and 1 Hispanic in whole school. The 8th grade started learning about the Holocaust, and then they got so into the story, they decided to do something about this tragedy. The 8th grade started to collect paper clips, which basically would represent each victim of the Holocaust. This project got so popular, people and people all over the country started helping them by sending paper clips to Whitwell. The school ended up getting over 24 million paper clips.

The Washington post even did a special on this amazing project. Also, the school ended up receiving German paper clips that dealt with people complimenting Anne Frank about her bravery. The principal ended up making an amazing memorial where they traveled to Germany to find the actual railcar that transported victims to different concentration camps. The car was transported for free from Germany to the USA for this memorial. The school ended up putting 11 million paper clips inside the car, 1 clip for each victim. They even had 3 Holocaust survivors come in and tell their stories. Each story left every person breathless. I personally am very happy that this school did this. They moved a lot of hearts that day and will always be remembered for that.
