Hospice in Santa Clarita

A hospice is a program or facility that provides palliative care and attends to the emotional, spiritual, social, and financial needs of terminally ill patients at a facility or at a patient's home. It is also a special shelter or lodging for travelers, pilgrims, foundlings, or the destitute, especially one maintained by a monastic order. A hospice, located in Santa Clarita, provides ill patients with care and support. They are known as one of the best healthcare aids in the United States. They are designed to provide a caring environment for supplying the physical and emotional needs of the terminally ill. Such services are provided by an interdisciplinary team of professionals and volunteers who are available at home and in specialized inpatient settings. There are many volunteer opportunities throughout the neighborhoods of Santa Clarita. Many volunteers help hospice patients and their families. Patient and family service volunteers provide a variety of support including compassionate visits, outings, assistance with personal errands or providing a few hours of relief for the primary caregiver. Patients may live independently in their own homes or in retirement and nursing homes throughout Los Angeles and surrounding areas. The hospice volunteers choose the areas or how far they are willing to travel to help patients and their supportive others at the end of life. In addition, hospice care is a type of specialized health care, supportive in nature, provided to a dying person. A holistic approach is often taken, providing the patient and his or her family with legal, financial, emotional or spiritual counseling in addition to meeting, the patient's immediate physical needs. Care may be provided in the home, in the hospital, in specialized facilities (hospices), or in specially designated areas of long-term care facilities.
