Abstract

CVS has generated an empire that cultivated itself to be the whopping health-care company in the nation. Starting off as a beauty aid store and transforming it into multimillion business. Constant and effective risks taken by CVS, aided in the exceptional growth over the years. These investments have greatly shaping the annual and quarterly reports year after year. CVS corporation has become more than just a pharmacy store, but now has incorporating retail clinics, long-term care and more. In this report, I will examine the Trend Analysis Report. This paper will also look at the quarterly revenue reports of this corporation and compare the quarters. It will then be determined which quarter is the best and it will go into a detailed explanation of why the determined quarter is the most profitable for the corporation.

CVS Growth

In 1963 CVS store, selling and beauty products was founded in Lowell, Massachusetts by the Goldstein brothers and partner Ralph Hoagland. Over the next year it grew a chain of stores. In 1967, CVS began operating in pharmacy, opening its first locations in Rhode Island. CVS was then sold to Melville Corp in 1969. The 70s, CVS spread through the Northeast and in New England. During the 1980s when the Hemophilia patient home health care launched, closing out the decade with 750 stores and generated sales of $1.6 billion. From then until now, CVS acquires 500 stores from People’s Drug in 1990; CVS joins forces with Minute Clinic. As of today, CVS have over 9,600+ store in the USA alone.

Looking at the Data Provide I had to determine the highest quarter for CVS. I was able to use the steps provided to analyze the data of the report for CVS on its website at http://investors.cvshealth.com-annual-report.pdf.  When that was examined and decided, I began to research the history behind the successful quarter. Since that quarter dead in the middle of cold and flu season I am sure that sickness ran up sales.  It also was the holiday season during which this quarter landed. Looking further into the research given by the company, I determined that there is even more to this quarter that makes it the most profitable quarter every year.
