Ideal Man of the Philippines
The principle of idealism is founded on the absolute truths and ideas established by biblical or spiritual revelation found in the Bible, which is the Word of God. The Lord Jesus Christ taught that humans must aim for perfection for the God in Heaven is perfect. Although most of us consider this an impossibility, it still remains a goal or standard by which many of human affairs are measured, whether in religious education, political activism, judicial service, environmentalism and, more so, in marital relationships.
And so, young people learn to yearn for their ideal man or woman. Even our heroes become paragons of moral and personal behavior among many Filipinos. And no one can provide us a higher standard than our national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal.
In describing the traits of the ideal man of the Philippines, we can use the life and work of Jose Rizal as our source of inspiration. This is because he provides a broad and comprehensive view of what characteristics one must have to be an effective citizen of our country.
Rizal had an early exposure to the study of letters, arts and other areas through the help of his parents, relatives and people around him. As the saying goes, “It takes a village to raise a child.” Of course, it helped that Rizal grew up in a family that was financially stable. Education requires a big investment. Because many Filipinos struggle to make a living, the opportunities for acquiring quality education become limited.
Faith is developed in an atmosphere of truth, love, peace, discipline and encouragement.
