IMAGES BEAUTY SALON

Sean was born in Jamaica immigrated to West Palm Beach, Florida at the age of 16 where she attended Palm Beach Lakes High School and graduated with a High School Diploma in 1993. After her high school years, she continued to gear her education towards the nursing field but never followed through because her passion was else where. Beauty school was where she belonged because her true passion drives her to make others feel and look good inside and out. Upon graduating beauty school she went and opened up her own beauty salon.

Today, Sean is the sole proprietor of Images Beauty Salon. The salon was established approximately five years ago in her Mother’s garage. This was the neighborhood female chill spot. In 2004, Sean leased a spot for a short time and then moved on to develop more. Finally, in 2006, she decided to purchase a salon to expand and better accommodate new and old clients. “Images Beauty Salon” is located at the intersection of Swain Boulevard and 2nd St. “Images Beauty Salon” hours of operation are Tuesdays through Thursdays 10a.m. to 8p.m. Fridays and Saturdays 11a.m. to 10p.m. and Sundays 12 noon to 7p.m.

“Images Beauty Salon” is widely known due to the various community projects Sean has sponsored to better youth involvement. The warmth of the atmosphere at “Images Beauty Salon” can be felt from afar. “Images Beauty Salon” represents the quality work done to make every customer feel satisfied. The many services offered include shampoo, set, style, facials, manicure, pedicure and many more. Sean gain employees through youths wanting community service hours for various reasons. Sean the owner of “Images Beauty Salon” is an object in many magazines. “Images Beauty Salon” offer many specials all year round to the entire community.

I visited the area one busy afternoon but unfortunately I had to schedule a phone interview with her and these were the many questions asked followed with responses:

1. Why did you choose to open up your own business?

a. I wanted to utilize my skills as well as give back to the community.

2. What made you decide to open up this type of business?

a. I started doing hair as a hobby but during high school while I was trying to register for the nursing program I saw some kids doing hair and it fascinated me that they were offering classes for hair. Soon after I went in and sign up and went to beauty school.

3. How long have you been in business?

a. I’ve been in business for approximately five years with prior experience.

4. What are you prior experiences in this field?

a. Before beauty school this field was simply a hobby to me.

5. What drives or motivate you?

a. My motivation is how a customer feels about themselves after their hair is done. As a result their self esteem goes up and they feel that they can accomplish more.

6. What plans did you put in place before you started your business?

a. I made sure my credit was up to date which saved me a lot of money and did a lot of research as far as equipment and business cost.

7. What made you choose your current location?

a. I always wanted to own my own building and about three years ago I ran into this property it was fairly big in size and I bought it.

8. What kind of marketing have you done to increase your customers throughout the years?

a. What I’ve been doing is that I open a club a few years ago to help build young girls self esteem and pretty much we do a lot of work with the community and as a result that help put the business name out as well.

9. What kind of customers do you attract?

a. I attract a diverse group of customers from gender, age, race and more

10. Has your marketing plans been successful? If yes, by how much?

a. My marketing plans have been extremely successful because of my interaction with the community.

11. Why do you feel your store is better than any other competing store in your region?

a. The quality service provided at Images Beauty Salon is outstanding. I give back to the community. It’s not about the money to me, I want to help to motivate
