Income Gap

Latin America, the Middle East, as well as Sub-Saharan Africa are developing countries and face problems that make it hard to move forward. The major problem facing Latin America is the income gap. What holds back the Middle East is war. In Sub-Saharan Africa disease keeps the countries from developing. Each of these issues hold unique challenges for the geographic region to which they pertain.

The income gap in Latin America effects development because it restricts who can develop. The wealth is concentrated in a small percentage of the population therefore it makes it almost impossible for the poverty stricken population to develop. Another issue is the poor infrastructure. The roads, communications, and necessary support structure are often under developed or not maintained making it difficult to implement widespread improvements. Governments are often unable or unwilling to make these improvements and so the population of Latin America continues to struggle with development.

Continuing conflict in the Middle East makes develop very difficult. The governments in this region spend so much money on war supplies and homeland security that economy and people suffer. The death rate is higher because the military and terrorist conflicts. If they could come to peace with their neighboring countries then there would be more money for all of the Middle East.

Aids is a huge problem in Sub-Saharan Africa. This disease is killing hundreds of thousands of people yearly. The disease prevents some countries from developing because the population is constantly changing by growing and declining. If the people of the countries start having safe sex and the knowledge of the disease grows then the countries can begin to rise.
