Choosing a topic for the infographic topic was a slightly challenging. It felt as though there was an infinite number of possible topics to choose from, and the need for an extremely specific topic also made searching a little bit more difficult. But, as I conducted simple research regarding topics I was already previously interested in through CQ Researcher, I eventually was able to slightly narrow my topic down to gender inequality in the workplace, and then I narrowed it down even further to the pay gap in the business world between genders. From there, I was able to begin my infographic.
The idea of the gender pay gap was extremely interesting to me before working on the project, and I was eager to find out more information throughout the timeframe of this project. In short, those who transitioned from male to female noticed their wages had fallen at least one-third following their transition. Quite the opposite happened to those transitioning from female to male, though: their earning had actually increased after their transition (Burns). This fact was very interesting to me because I had assumed that all those who have transitioned to either gender would be discriminated against, since our society is still extremely discriminatory towards the LGBTQ+ community. This intrigued me for so many reasons, one reason being that it just feels like it would be so easy to adjust the wages of men and/or women to make them coincide in a matter of months and the pay gap could finally close. But, the fact that it will take about 136 years for the pay gap to close throughout the world is shocking. The more one thinks about it, though, the more it does make sense. Even in these “modern and progressive” times, many countries around the world consider women to
