- Once you have a topic you have particular interest in, Google the topic and find another article, dated 2014-2016. (All articles used for this course must have identified authors.)
- Write a journal entry providing a brief overview of the topic using the information in both articles you found. Do not provide any quotes from the article. Instead, thoroughly read both articles and then write your own summary / review of the articles and add a personal perspective
For my final paper selection I chose to research more about opening a business overseas. The first article I chose is titled “Why You Might Want to Start Your Business Overseas” and the second article is titled “The ABCs of Starting a Business Overseas” Owning and running a business is not something that comes easily to most people, after all many businesses struggle to keep afloat in their own country forget about opening a business overseas. Running a business can be a challenge especially trying to do it from a different country. There are many things that you need to take into consideration such as language barriers, currency exchange and customs to name a few. Many entrepreneurs look to the international market because they have lower startup costs and there is less business around to compete for startup costs. This by no means makes starting a business overseas easy however; there are definitely tricks to the trade. As with anything there are challenges setting up and international business takes a lot of time and could potentially take longer than a business started in your own country. Dealing with the international laws and tax regulations is a job in itself. A lot of thought needs to be put into starting the business there are far more things to think of such as transportation, utilities, and internet speed and economic stability. Not many people would think about it but traffic and transportation are a huge thing to think about traveling three miles to the office in the United States could take three hours in another country. Opening a business in unfamiliar territory certainly opens up a myriad of roads to be traveled and the possibilities of success are endless. It is all about the time, effort and research you put into it. Depending on which country and how much time you have to devote starting up the international business could be started up in no time.
