Introduction

The internet affects us in many direct and indirect ways, all at the same time, all the time. It is used for fun games, family and friend communication, homework, shopping, and much more. It is a tool that everyone needs, that is always waiting for the users next step to provide the essential information any modern human needs. It is a place for everyone, from children to elderly, having something for every age group. There are many pros and cons in the internet. As you may be buying your dream car, you may also be giving out your information to the wrong type of people, hackers. This is where all the fuzz begins, that’s why there is Internet Security, and Identity Theft explained below. The click of one button affects economy as well. Shopping can be done online, as well as downloading bootleg movies and music. It is a combination of good and evil, combined.

Internet

The internet is a place used to connect easily through ordinary personal computers and local phone numbers, cables, or wirelessly through a satellite. An enormous amount of servers are used for all the websites that are online, which provide users with updated information at the click of a mouse.

People throughout the world can exchange information in many formats. For example, emails, websites, chatting, multimedia, and much more. Thus humanity can access diverse perspectives around the world. Internet is a must for today’s modern civilization. It is something that is attracting everyone here, everyone there, everyone everywhere. It is a way of distributing any type of information easily. It is the new telephone, as you can video chat with an integrated microphone. It is the new iPod, as any music can be downloaded instead of stored into a device. It is the wallet, as shopping is a click away.

There are many websites with diverse types of information, from newspapers, to online MMORPGs (Massive Multiplayer Online Role-playing Game). Statistics show that 81% of teen internet users play games online. That represents about 17 million people and signifies growth of 52% in the number of online gamers since 2000.There is stuff for every age range, from children learning tools, to newspapers for elderly. There is also explicit material for users age 18 and over. These unique websites offer security for teens, by asking their age, and refusing their entrance if they are underage.

Commercials and advertisements are everywhere in the internet. Before watching videos, before playing your favorite song, while playing the best MMORPG, they are right in front of you. The internet not only has adverts everywhere, but can also send it to your email, which is why there exists spam blocker and pop-up blockers. These protections are used to prevent from malicious and unwanted information entering the users PC (Personal Computer).

With just looking at the good side of the internet, it is true that it has much good to offer, but as much good as it has, there is also bad. Hackers, key loggers, Trojans can invade your PC and make a total mess out of it, thus the internet shall be used in the right ways, and by mastered personal.

Effect on teens

Statistics show that 40% teens used the internet daily, while compared to today, 51% of teens use the internet daily. The internet threatens teens in sundry ways, by exposing explicating content, and other malicious interactions with the user. It is very popular these days for there to be undercover agents online surfing the internet, acting as teenagers, and as other adults act as teenagers and try to convince the undercover agent to meet in the real world, the adults have been caught. Those malicious adults acting as teenagers to gain sex and other acts from a teenager are being caught one after the other. But it just doesn’t stop.

The privacy of teenagers are in great risk. Since most teenagers are computer illiterate, they know very little about computers. They may look like they know how to use it, but they really don’t. They need to know some things that most of them don’t know. There are a lot of websites that violate a persons privacy by logging or tracking the users computer. For example, teenagers that use the google search engine may be typing personal information in the search bar, and if that search is tracking back to their Ip address or their google email address, it can all be linked together. For example, their phone numbers, and other personal data.

There are many reasons why teenagers use the internet, it’s a cool thing that every teenager uses in daily tasks. It is used to do facilitate information, which can be used for homework or projects. Others may use the internet to copy, send, receive, or share homework with other internet users. Teens also use
