Cartwright-Porter Airport is experiencing issues with baggage handlers, alleged sexual harassment complaint, and performance appraisal system. The impact of each situation shall be address. Cartwright-Porter Airport shall address its decision on baggage handlers, convey how they are strict about its position on sexual harassment policy, and set up a performance appraisal system that ties directly into the organization's size and specific industry.
Compensation
There were complaints from baggage handlers. Passenger traffic to the airport increased considerably. Due to the increase, it became necessary to change many of the airport's existing policies in order to accommodate a spread of travelers. As a result, the baggage handlers expended extra effort in carrying out their duties. The baggers noticed no proportionate revision in their compensation. Supervisors stated this has caused considerable discontentment among the baggage handlers and if the problem is not address immediately, this airport will suffer. Cartwright-Porter Airport understood making special considerations to one labor category would most certainly cause strife for others. The larger number of travelers will affect ticket agents and the grounds crew. Cartwright-Porter made a decision to increase cash incentives on compensation. Compensation is often the cause of discontentment among employees in an organization. Management and employees usually have conflicting views on compensation structure. Cartwright-Porter elected cash benefits. The company tried to keep management and baggage handlers satisfied. The best option is to choose benefits valuable to the baggage handlers. Though the proximity of the situation may dictate that the luggage handlers compensation package be upgraded first, definitely the other labor categories deserve the same consideration.
Sexual Harassment
Employees filed a complaint regarding an advertisement put up by WilderNest Resort in the lounge. This airport has business arrangements that allow the company to put up its advertisements in its premises. This advertisement showed a young person in a provocative pose. Employees were discomfort. They ascertain that the advertisement is a latent form of sexual harassment. Pursuant to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (2007), verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature constitute sexual harassment when this conduct explicitly or implicitly affects an individual's employment, unreasonably interferes with an individual's work performance, or creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive work environment. The impact of this advertisement could halt the productivity of the airport, so management took action. The company moved the billboard to another location and decided to terminate the agreement with WilderNest Resort. Cartwright-Porter Airport believes WilderNest would understand the predicament and point of view of employees. This displays a certain level of maturity from the management's side. The employees would view it as empowering and would be able to contribute their ideas during the decision-making process. These initiatives could prevent such instances from recurring in the future.
