It Takes Two To Fight!

From time to time boxing has been described as barbarous and dangerous, but can such judgement be passed on a sport that has been established for numerous centuries? In fact boxing is an excellent character builder. It teaches the fighters to look after themselves both mentally and physically. A boxer is taught to eat properly and drink moderately. This sport is proven to effectively mature a person.

Boxing is a sport which involves two fighters going into hand-to-hand combat. The match is supervised by a referee over a series of one-to-three minute intervals called rounds. There are 12 rounds for world titles, 12 for intercontinental, 10 for international, and 10 for regional. The result is decided when an opponent is deemed incapable to continue by a referee, is disqualified for breaking a rule, or is pronounced the winner or loser based on the judges' scorecards at the end of the contest. In the event that both fighters gain equal scores from the judges, the fight is considered a draw.

The fighters aren’t allowed to hit below the belt, trip, kick, trip, wrestle, or push your opponent. Using elbows, head, shoulders, or forearm to strike your opponent is prohibited. If you score a knockdown on your opponent, you must go to the farthest neutral corner while the referee makes the count. A boxer that gets knocked out the ring, has until the count of 20 to get back in and on his feet without assistance. You cannot throw a punch while holding on to the ropes for leverage. If a foul results in an injury that causes the fight to end immediately, the boxer who committed the foul is disqualified.

When I was in boxing it was very important to be safe. In order to be safe you need protective gear. Every boxer needs protective cups, mouth-pieces, and weight classified boxing gloves. This is necessary in order to ensure the safety of the boxer, even though they’re most likely gonna get hurt anyways (unless you’re Floyd Mayweather). They must be worn at all times when going hand-to-hand unless there is a break for the fighters or the competition is over.

You are put in a certain weight division depending on your weight.
