John Edwards was born and grew up at Robbins, North Carolina. He was the son of Wallace Edwards who was a textile-mill floor maker. He was the first in his family to go to college and graduate.
He followed his father's career choice in textile. He received a bachelor's degree in textile management in 1974. In 1977 he married a fellow law student, Elizabeth Anania. He had a kid in 1979. John went into politics the after his son died in an automobile accident in 1995. He became senate a year later in 1996 for North Carolina.
On July 6, 2007 he Kerry announced that John Edwards would be he's running mate. When 2004 John Edwards ran for vice president with John Kerry. He's poll numbers started to rise steadily. They lost the election but came in second place. Now in 2007 John Edwards is running for president. He has solutions for many issues.
He now has his own web site that he believes will make his votes stride. He has a program called one corps, which allows you to join a small group locally. There are many thru America and many in California (one hundred fifty fore). He recent won the endorsement of SEIU (a union of north America) in ten states. Which is a big step to becoming president.
For the future he has good plans. He has a great plan for poverty. If he becomes president he plans to increase the minimum wage to at least $9.50 an hour by 2012. He thinks that Every American should have the chance to work their way out of poverty. He wants to Create Opportunity in Rural America and Strengthen Labor Laws. To help protect workers, John Edwards will make a new Labor taskforce to for the industries with the worst abuses of minimum wage and overtime laws. Edwards would make a new tax credit to help low-income workers. The credit would match savings up to $500 per year. He would Create Second-Chance Schools for High School Dropouts to help former dropouts get back on track. He
