I believe that Kim Clijsters is the best female tennis player that has yet to win a grand slam tennis title.

A grand slam is a major tennis tournament that all the players look to win. There are a sum of one hundred and twenty-eight players that begin the tournament and the winner has to go through seven rounds to become the champion. There are four of these tournaments a year: the Australian open, Roland Garros (The French Open), Wimbledon, and the U.S. Open.

Kim, of Belgium, has had an amazing career so far winning a total of twenty-seven titles and a win/loss record of 352-85. She has dazzled the crowds with her trademark splits and defensive play to get to all the balls that most players wouldn't even try to touch. She plays a great defensive game, but can turn most defensive shots into offensive shots.

Kim has been in a grand slam final four times and has achieved the number 1 ranking for eleven weeks. In 2001 she made it to the French Open final against American Jennifer Capriati. Kim gained the first set surrendering just one game. Capriati then was able to raise her game to win the second set 6-4. Then the battle was on! Kim and Jennifer fought it out until the score was even at ten all in the third set. Capriati was able

to boost her game to win the match 12-10 in the third set, in one of the longest matches in tennis history.

Two years later she made it to the 2003 French Open Final facing her compatriot and rival, Justine Henin-Hardenne in the final. Justine proved too strong for her and took the match and the tournament 6-0 6-4. A few months later Kim steam rolled her way into the U.S. Open final seeing her fellow Belgian, Justine in the final once again. Kim showed some fight in the first set, but then saw her grand slam record fall to 0-3. In the beginning of 2004 Kim fought her way into the final of the Australian Open, once again seeing her rival on the opposite side of the net. Kim fought hard, but then lost her momentum when she got a sleazy call that went against her.
