King Arthur Section 3 Summary
Truly Mr. Allen, I understood almost nothing of this book and the section that I was to read. Normally I am quite good at comprehending what takes place in various books, comprehension has always been a strong point of mine, but in the case of this book it was so poorly written in my opinion that I, the reader, could not be engrossed and could thus, not understand. On each page it seemed to be just a jumble of random names that meant nothing and an ever increasing number of jousts....to put it simply, it was rediculous. I will try to express to you some of what I got from it (and some notes that I was able to find), but be warned that the information I give will be quite sparse.
If I remember correctly the book began with the telling of King Mark and Alexander the orphan. Mark was jealous over the victory of another man and murdered him and then his family, but Alexander escapes and then returns to Mark as a man and a knight and attempts to murder him, but dies trying. Something along those lines anyway. Next the book goes on about a joust tournament that takes place at the castle "Surluse"...this is really all I could tell you about this because it quickly becomes a mass of names and jousts that I don't recall and truly I don't remember why there was a joust at Surluse to begin with...I believe people wanted to kill Launcelot at the joust, which seems like an act a lot
of people want to try.
The next bit involves more names and jousts and then something about the knight Tristram being thrown into a jail by I believe king Mark who really came out of nowhere as far as names are concerned, but whatever. Some person, I believe a woman, gets some knight, who I don't know, to rescue Tristram because he's cool like that...Oh, and there is some Sir Dinadan who is around this area who makes fun of a bunch of stuff
