Kurt Cobain, a major celebrity around the world, is best known as the lead singer, songwriter and guitarist of the grunge rock band Nirvana. Cobain who was born in 1967, was born in a small town 140km from seattle, to a cocktail waitress and a mechanic. Cobain soon moved to Aberdeen. Kurt Cobains life took a drastic turn when his parents split up when he was 7. Cobain later cited that he 'never felt loved or secure again.He became increasingly difficult, anti-social and withdrawn after his parent's divorce. Cobain also said that his parent's traumatic split fueled a lot of the anguish in Nirvana's music. When Cobain was eleven he heard and was captivated by the Sex Pistols and after their self-destruction Cobain and friend Krist Novoselic continued to listen to the wave of British bands including Joy Division. Cobain formed and reformed a series of bands before Nirvana came to be in 1986. Cobain fell into heroin in the early 90's, he said he used it as a shield against the rigorous demands of touring and to stop the pain of stomach ulcers or an irritated bowel. Through the touring and pressure Cobain continued to write his very personal acutely focused lyrics.

In February 1992 Cobain went to Hawaii to marry the already pregnant Courtney Love. Later in the year Nirvana released Incesticide and in August Cobain had hospital treatment for heroin abuse. Shortly after Frances Bean Cobain was born.

Cobain was diagnosed with bronchitis and severe laryngitis. He flew to Rome the next day for medical treatment. The next morning, Courtney Love awoke to find that Cobain had overdosed on a combination of champagne and Rohypnol. (some drugs tht I can't pronounce the name of! =P This event has been called an attempted suicide, however this was never said until Courtney love stated it AFTER he died.

Cobain had agreed to undergo a detox program. Cobain arrived at the Exodus Recovery Center on March 30. The following night, Cobain walked outside to have a cigarette, then climbed over a six-foot-high fence to leave the facility. He took a taxi to LA airport and flew back to Seattle. Over the course ofthe next two days, Cobain was spotted in various locations around Seattle, but most of his friends and family were unaware of his whereabouts. On April 3, Courtney Love contacted a private investigator,Tom Grant, and hired him to find Cobain. The next day, a person claiming to be Cobain's mother filed
