Two young men are talking online. Their conversation is as follows:
Travis: Hey man, when are we going to LAN again? My new machine is a monster.
David: I hear yah bro, I need to get some new parts for the grid and format my machine before we can go at it. How beastly is your machine?
Travis: Top of the line, it has a dual Turion, a gig of memory, and a 7000 pro.
David: Wow that is a beast! What kind of fps do you get on source? I'll get the grid up by next week and we can definitely have a LAN.
Travis: I get 100 flat.
David: Alright man, I'm impressed. I'll get back to you on Friday!
Travis: Peace man!
Analysis:
This conversation, although it does not seem to make much sense, was very meaningful to my friends and me. The basis of the conversation is about a LAN. In my senior year of high school, some friends and I would have LAN parties. This was what we all referred to as an event where a group of us would hook up our computers on a network (referred to as the Grid) and play multiplayer games.
Almost every one of us built our own computers and constantly upgraded them. We all referred to them as Machine's. Based on the computer's performance they were ranked as a monster. We judged the separate component in our computer's based on how capable they were of running the latest games and programs. The higher the frame rate that it could run games at (fps), the more Ð''beastly' the computer was. Turion is the processor type, a gig of memory means a gigabyte of RAM (random access memory),
