The problem that is well know today between the Native Americans and the federal government is the "Indian trust fund scandal". This problem has be going for many years, money missing and not giving, going back to 1887, but they can only account for 1988 and present! The government has leased many of the Indians lands for money making activates, but the department has did a horrible job managing the money that is owed to these tribes. Over 100 billion dollars was suppose to be put in trust funds and they turned up missing or destroyed. The tribes have tried to settle the cast asking for 27.5 billion, but was denied from the senate of the Indian Affairs Committee, and they were told that the congress would never passed this. I think the legislation that is best link to this one is the Allotment Act of 1887 which required all the money coming form the tribe lands to be manage by the federal government. So in other wards the government played as their bank and held there money and now when they need it the most, it's not their and there is no trace of it nowhere. I just don't understand it this people allowed Americans on their land and earned the money , it's theirs and when they go for it , it's gone no where in site and everything just seems fine. To me this just seems unfair and somewhat racial on their part. So like what the congress says, if the money can't be found then the government has to pay, which means me as a taxpayer I have to pay for someone's mistakes or even theft, not fair. If a bank lost all this money and had no idea where it was it will be shut down, if trustees misuse private funds they would be in jail, but yet the congress knows about all this not to mention it's been going on for years and they continue to ignore it like it hasn't happen. I think it comes down to power and beings that these people don't have political power , then the congress decides to ignore it
