Libya And United States Foriegn Policy

One of Libya’s most pressing foreign policy issues at hand is its dispute with the U.S. over Terrorism . Lybia is currently a sponsor of global terrorism . The United States wants Libya to stop sponsoring terrorism and start fighting against it. Libya has sponsored terrorism to use it as a weapon against other more powerful nations. Libya uses it to strike back with out having to worry about the consequences of what the terrorist group has done.
The tension between The United States and Lybia as been very high. There have been many incidents where all out war almost broke out. One example is when 2 U.S. fighter jets were fired at during a recon the mission. The fighters were being engaged by Libyan fighter jets. The U.S. fighters engaged back and knock both Libyan fighters out of the sky. Another incident was a bombing raid on April 15 on Qaddafi’s headquarters. With these tensions getting very high and getting to the point of all out war this could make the middle east even more unstable by having another U.S. war held against another middle eastern country. The best way for Libya to handle this situation and should do, due to who there up against, is negotiations with the U.S.. Libya’s government should try and find a way to settle this dispute, without having war put on it. Libya should use this terrorism sponsor ship as a way to get something out of it for the interest of the country. Libya has its self in a unique situation with having the United States involved in two wars that are currently fighting terrorism, Iraq and Afghanistan . The pressure to have to immediately stop the sponsorship is greatly reduced, because the United States military is stretch very thinly.
I believe that Libya should try and stop sponsoring terrorism is it will greatly help there appearance and rank on a global view. By doing this they will be recognized as a country that is trying to fight terrorism. They will
