I have been blessed with wise friends. Don't get me wrong, some of my friends are stupid and the majority of my

friends are average. I have a few friends, however, that I believe are very wise. I often find myself

venting to my

friend Jason. He usually has advice or insight for me. Most of the time it annoys me. Most of the time it is right.

On one particular occasion I was frustrated with the way some of my female coworkers were expecting favors

based solely on the fact that they were women. Jason had a wise answer. No one really wants equality in this

world, he said. No one wants to be equal to his neighbor. Everyone is striving for superiority. We are engaged

blacks free land and free farm animals to start supporting their families in the 1800's. Blacks have the right to

vote. They can now go anywhere they want to go. They can be admitted into any institution they want. They can

have any job they want. Blacks became equal to whites and I'm glad of it. Like women though (and everyone

else) equality is not enough. Only superiority will do.

Americans have learned to live with double standards. Two high school graduates have the exact same SAT

scores and class ranking - the white student will go to a state school and the black student will go to Harvard.

Why? Minority students are afforded better opportunities simply because they are minorities. This is not only

true of African-Americans but of women, homosexuals, Muslims and people of all different races. As a matter of

fact, it seems the only people who earn things based solely
