Subject: Leadership Assignment; Gordon “Butch” Stewart

1.0 Introduction

Gordon "Butch" Stewart, one of Jamaica's most successful entrepreneurs and one of the top dogs in the Marketing industry actually saw his rise from humble beginnings. According to Clifford (2008), Stewart's mother had a little business as a dealer for appliances in which he loved helping out and did so very often. He also, in 1953, offered his skills to a film crew by borrowing his father’s fishing boat to transport the crew members everyday to and from their yachts at the harbour front (Thomas, 2012)

According to Allen (2007), Butch Stewart was born in Jamaica on July 6, 1941 to Gordon Leslie Stewart who worked for the Jamaica Broadcasting Commission as an engineer and Jean Patricia nee Rerrie at the Nuttall Memorial Hospital near Cross Roads. He was labeled by his peers as the “least likely to succeed”, owing to his audacious nature as a youngster but little did they know how much this would have worked on his favor many years after.
