The sooner I understand the benefits of exercise and eating a balanced diet, the healthier, happier I will be. Exercising alone can allow me to add years onto my life. I can already tell a difference by walking extra everyday. The difference this has made in only a week on my lungs is amazing. My lungs are really weak, and when I started walking my chest would hurt because of the oxygen that was going into my lungs. As the days have gone on I’m not as winded or “out of breath”. I can walk farther without the panting, or stopping. My heart rate has increased dramatically during my walks. I’m sure my body is in shock, as I’ve never done anything like this before.
The fat intake that my heart is use to is amazing, if I would have thought to have my cholesterol checked that would’ve been even better. The fried foods, fast foods, and sweets have played havoc on my heart and especially my weight. I went to the grocery yesterday and stocked up on some heart healthy foods. My son came in this evening looking for something and says, “Mom, we don’t have any junk food”. The one thing I’ve come to realize is it’s a lifestyle. We choose what we want; to be healthy or not healthy. I’ve always chosen the latter of the two. Granted it is an adjustment however, what are the alternatives? Heart failure? Heart attack? Heart disease? Stroke?
I’ve noticed a difference in myself with my anxiety, mood, mental function, the way I function at work and more importantly my sleep. I had the best night sleep last night then I’ve had in six months. It’s very encouraging to start seeing little glimpses of results. I believe it will only continue to get better with this lifestyle that I’ve chosen for the next few weeks. I honestly believe if I can do it for four weeks I can do it for a lifetime.
