English creative writing task: Predictions

I knew it was too good to be true when the old fortune teller foretold my prophecy. Now I wish I had never gone near that tent. She took one look at my hand and said “You shall reach a new high in your life”

“w-what do you mean” I stuttered bewilderedly

“It all begins with a girl, but she shall be no ordinary girl, she is unique, unlike any girl you have ever met and she will bring to you your deepest darkest desire in life.”

“and what might that be” I asked the old woman, fascinated by the idea of receiving my darkest desire

“that is for me to know and for you to find out” she replies equivocally

with a grin on my face I thanked the old woman as I left the tent.

It was the usual Monday morning. Wake up, get out of bed, brush my teeth, get dressed, get on the bus and go to school like every other day. But this day felt particularly different, I followed the same routine but I was still asking myself the same question I had been asking all weekend, what was my deepest darkest desire? Who was this girl and what was so special about her?

I arrived at school 2 minutes before the bell, I frantically gathered my books from my locker and run to my first class and grabbed a seat next to Claire the new girl. I turned to say good morning but I was mesmerised by her smile, this was the moment that I realised she was the girl in the prophecy.

She was different, she was the only person I’d met and didn’t understand. I befriended her and was enticed by her difference. She had been in my class for months but I didn’t know know a thing about her, her beliefs and thoughts were all a mystery to me. After spending the whole day together, I realised that I had become obsessed with her. I became obsessed with trying to understand her. She had become my world and yet I was still only orbiting hers. We sat there in silence for a moment as I get lost in her forest green eyes. This was the moment I realised that she must be my deepest darkest desire. “it’s too crowded down here let’s go up to the roof and get some air” she says, without thought I carelessly agree.

Which leads to now. I am on the edge of a 63 story rooftop blankly staring at a foreign man screams telling me to get down from here. “Do it. Jump. It will be fine and I’ll be right behind you” she sinisterly whispers in my ear. I gaze into her eyes having second thoughts about what I’m about to do. But it was too late. Feeling helpless and like I have no control over my actions I jump. I look back and she’s still up there, just looking at me smiling. At that moment I realise this is it. This was my deepest darkest desire.
