Maricela

My Essay: Maricela Maricela is a Mexican, pregnant sixteen-year old. She thinks she is already dead because she is pregnant. She says she's really hot. Because of the baby she's fat as a wrestler. She has dropped out of school. She's been asked out zero times, including the guy who got her pregnant. Her parents were very angry at her. They wanted her to graduate. They also wanted her to get abortion. Then, they both got excited about it, they love little babies. She's in a program for pregnant teenagers. The program provides taking you to the doctor, and getting your G.E.D., at home. The program got their own spot in the vacant lot. They had to do this because they had to practice taking care of something, and to let them witness the miracle of life. And, to try to keep them away from eating their babies alive or dropping them into dumpsters. Maricela grew radishes. As soon as the little green leaves came up a gopher would wipe them out. She had wished that would happen to her baby. Maricela met a girl, her name was Leona. Maricela could talk to her about her pregnancy. Leona gave Maricela some goldenrod that she was growing, she said it would help get through the delivery. After starring at the squash she had realized that there was a world in there. She could actually see the leaves and flowers growing and changing. And, for just that minute she stopped wishing that her baby would die.
