Mark Twain
Samuel Langhorne Clemens was born in Florida, Missouri on November 30,2016. He was the sixth child of John and Jane Clemens. At the age of four, the family moved to Hannibal. When Clemens was twelve, his father died. He started working many different jobs to support his family at the age of fifteen. He worked jobs such as a lawyer, a shopkeeper, a judge, and land speculator.
In 1857, He fulfilled his dream and became a licensed steamboat pilot at 21. But since the Civil War broke out, his service disbanded. After, he headed to Nevada and California to live there. He became a reporter for the Virginia City Territorial Enterprise and soon became a famous storyteller. Along the way, he adopted the name Mark Twain, which is steamboat slang for 12 feet of water. Then, he published his first book The Innocents Abroad in 1869. In his later years, Clemens became bitter
He had married Olivia Langdon in 1870. Clemens had published his second book, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer in 1876. This led to a sequel called The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. But in his later years, Clemens’ kids except one had died from different diseases such as diphtheria. His wife had also died due to long illness. He later died on April 21, 1910, at the age of 74, at his home in Redding, Connecticut.
Mark Twain was such a famous author. He will be remembered by everyone. His books were one of the most famous in the world.
