EARLY LIFE

On May 14, 1984, a child was born in White Plains, New York, into a well accomplished highly educated family of Edward Zuckerberg and Karen. Edward was a dentist and his wife a psychiatrist. They named the child Mark Elliot Zuckerberg and brought him `up in the close-by town of Dobbs Ferry.

Mark Zuckerberg was a computer maniac since childhood; at the age of 12 he made a messaging program named “Zucknet” utilizing Atari BASIC. His dad benefited from the program and used it as a part of his dental office, so that the assistant could advise him of another patient without whooping over the room.  Zucknet was used likewise inside the house to convey the messages. Just for the sake of entertainment Zuckerberg along with his acquaintances also made PC diversions.  "I had a pack of companions who were fine artist," he said. "They'd come over, draw stuff, and I'd assemble a recreation out of it."

To withstand with Mark's prospering enthusiasm for PCs, his parents took the service of PC mentor David Newman to come to their house weekly and work with Mark.

Zuckerberg was then sent to Phillips Exeter Academy, a private elementary academy in New Hampshire. There he demonstrated ability in fencing and became the captain of the school’s team. He also stood out in writing, gaining recognition in works of art. However, Zuckerberg’s field of interest remained PCs, and he kept on chipping away at growing new projects.

TIME AT HARVARD

After completing his graduation from Exeter in 2002, Zuckerberg got enrolled at Harvard University. By the time he was in the second year, he had gained a reputation as a go-to software developer on campus. At this point of time, he built a program called Course Match, aimed to guide students in order to choose their classes based on the course selections of other users. He also created Face mash, an application to let the users compare the pictures of two campus students and vote the one more attractive. The program became famous; however, the school administration reckoned it to be unsuitable and it was closed.

Three students of this Ivy League institution, Divya Narendra, Cameron Winklevoss and Tyler Winklevoss were planning to launch a social networking site called Harvard Connection. This site was intended to utilize data from Harvard's understudy organizes with a specific end goal to make a dating site for the Harvard elite. They had heard a lot about Zuckerberg’s projects and approached him to help them execute their idea. Initially Zuckerberg agreed to provide assistance, but left the trio to in order to start working on his own idea. He was accompanied by his friends Dustin Moskovitz, Chris Hughes and Eduardo Saverin.

The core group of 4, generated a site that provided the users the opportunity of making their own profiles, uploading photos, and communicating with other users. They operated the site from a dorm room at Harvard till June 2004. Zuckerberg gave up his studies at the end of the sophomore year and bestowed all his time to Facebook; his social networking site.

PROFESSION

FACEBOOK:

It was incorporated in February 2004.  This idea came to Mark from his prep school where yearbooks were maintained for students and they were known as “The Facebook”. Facebook started just from one university and got to many universities.

At first, they rented a small house for office and investment was made by two of them Mark Zuckerberg and his roommate Eduardo Saverin. Facebook’s office was incorporated in Florida LLC. The first Angel Investment was made by Peter Thiel of $500,000.

Initially, Facebook was retained to the universities and by the end of 2005 many universities in Australia and New Zealand were added to its network. It was the opened to everyone from ages 13 and up having an email address by September 2006. By 2007, Facebook started group pages and there were more than 100,000 pages and it allowed companies to attract customers towards it.

It was recorded that by 2011, over 350 million people were using Facebook and cyber traffic reached to 33%. It also instituted “Hackathons” in which participants were given a project and to complete in one night. Zuckerberg himself also attended this hackathon. The people who attend this are given food and entertainment during the night. After attending this Zuckerberg quotes that Hackathon now is the personality of Facebook.

IPO was offered by Facebook on February 1, 2012. The main aim of IPO was to raise $5 billion. Hence, $16 billion IPO was generated.

Zuckerberg being the founder and CEO of Facebook believes that it is not a waste of time although its helping people and our generation to get socially enacted with friends, family and other people and to serve humanity.

According to the researches he receives $1 salary and has donated a larger part of his net worth to charity.

WIREHOG:

Wirehog was launched during the development of Facebook. It was basically providing the file sharing service between computers. There was only one way to join Wirehog and that was through an invitation which was to be sent by a person who was on it and it as used by people who were not on Facebook. When Facebook started sharing photos, the Wirehog software was terminated.

PLATFORM, BEACON & CONNECT:

Platform was developed by May 2007 for programmers. It was developed to create social applications. In a very short time there were more than 800,000 developers constructing applications.

By November of the same year, Zuckerberg announced a social advertising known as Beacon. It allowed people to share information with other friends on Facebook. Other people would easily know what is happening outside through Beacon. Facebook Connect was also another great version of Platform.
