Introduction

Growing up is a difficult task for both late adolescents and young adult. At this stage, decisions regarding education, career, finding a partner and whether to build a family are made. This period is considered most stressful, given a lot of challenges that may alter their life journey. Hence, it is vital that students are occupied with optimum skills necessary in their adaptation to new life. At this period, young adults start their separation from family. They become more independent by creating their own goals and decisions for life. According to the World Health Organization, “individuals with adequate life skills adapt and have positive behaviors in dealing with the challenges and demands of everyday life” (Kuen) Furthermore, low academic achievement, poor social competence, and impulsiveness as risk factors for violence among individuals. The few major concerns for the youth lifestyle nowadays in Malaysia can be categorized into education, work, and leisure time activities and many more. In addition, leisure time activities play an important role in youth lifestyles as well. Similar to youth in other countries, computer and internet are very popular in Malaysia’s youth lifestyles. According to the data from (Malaysia Youth Index Survey 2006), media penetration scored fairly well with 84.8 overall values. Besides watching television, browsing Internet and engaging in online social networks like Facebook at home, youth also likes to spend time watching movies at the cinema after school or work or during weekend. Other than that, shopping is also becoming a habit among youth. As a result of high media penetration, Malaysia’s youth are highly influenced by Western cultures as well as fashion and entertainment news and updates from other countries like Japan, Korea and also Taiwan. They are attracted to the western culture thus forgetting about healthy lifestyle. It is well established that a healthy lifestyle is of benefit in the prevention of diseases such as cancer and promotion of well-being. “This study showed a poor practice of healthy lifestyle among university students. Therefore universities should emphasize a healthy lifestyle in all faculties as a required subject. Socio-demographic characteristics significantly influenced practice and thus should be considered when planning preventive measures among university students. Frequent campaigns and educational seminars are to be encouraged” (Lifestyle practice among Malaysian university students.). this research had shown that most students are abandoning healthy lifestyles.

THE PROJECT TITLE

Sports and other physical activities have various physical health advantages, including improved respiratory and muscular fitness, bone health, increased life expectancy, and coronary health. Sports can also help prevent various types of cancer and weight gain and have positive effects on mental health by reducing depression and improving cognitive function. “Playing sports can have a number of positive life-long effects, namely the promotion of health and fitness. It's also a way to develop important social skills” (Brown, 2014). Sports can help to in long-term weight loss and help avoid weight gain. Sports increase metabolic rates and can help increase body mass while burning calories and getting rid of excess fat. Although the amount of physical activity needed varies by body type and caloric intake, sports can help a person maintain a healthy weight. “According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, between two and half to five hours of moderately-intensive physical activity can help achieve weight stability. High-intensity sports can help people who want to lose weight or maintain a significant amount of weight loss” (Cohen, 2013). That is why sports is important as it can help us to adapt to healthy lifestyle to stay healthy. Besides, students who play sports can develop a strong bond with their teammates, this shows that sports play an important role in teaching young people how to communicate and bonding with others as this is a good social effect. The social benefits of playing sports last well beyond youth. Team sports offer adults of all ages an opportunity for social interaction “According to a 1998 University of Michigan study, teens who play sports are more likely to get better grades than those that don't. Researchers found that teens involved in sports had higher grade-point averages, and were more prepared to pursue future goals” (Fidler, 2015)

THE STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEMS

1. Students nowadays are forgetting in adapting healthy lifestyle concept

2. Students in Seri Iskandar involved in bad influence of social phenomenon

3. Students spending pattern is disrupt as facilities is very far

As you can see nowadays, most people in this world are adapting to healthy lifestyle concept. There are many ways in adapting healthy lifestyle by not just eating the right food, but also exercise in the right way. “Sport and physical activity in itself may not directly lead to benefits but, in combination with other factors, can promote healthy lifestyles” (The Health Benefits of Sport and Physical Activity, 2015). The pressures of assignments and student life can make it feel like there's little time to exercise. Aside from weight loss, there is a lot to gain from exercise and it can make a huge difference to staying healthy. As the lifestyle is currently increasing, some people just focusing onto the right food taken but ignore exercise due to not having enough time and not the right place. “52% of adults felt were they physically active enough to stay healthy, but only 39% met the current recommendations of 30 minutes moderate activity on most days of the week” (Many Scots 'choose' to ignore lifestyle health advice, 2011). On the other hand, healthy lifestyle also is not just about the right exercise and food taking but also the right treat to your body. As you can see, students in Seri Iskandar also tend to stay up late and not having enough rest for their body. “College students simply don't get enough of sleep. “If I had to choose the biggest problem concerning sleep in college students, it's just that they choose to not sleep” (Lai, 2015). Due to tons of works, projects, and also assignments they chose not to sleep in order to complete their work. This shows that they do not apply the concept of healthy lifestyle.
