Marshfield Airport - What's the Point?
I believe that completely shutting down the Marshfield airport would be a great way to save a huge amount of money for the city of Marshfield. The city spent over $130,000 in 2004 alone and just under that amount in 2005 to keep the airport up and running. That would be some serious cash that the city could use for much more important things like using the money for testing down at the hospital. Some of the things that go into maintaining the airport are, mowing the grass and brush management, prompt snow removal, and maintaining and improving the landing and lighting systems. The city also pays for maintaining and improving all the airport buildings and maintaining all the grounds equipment.
If the city was to cut this asset from their budget they would lose a fast and easy way to get to places they are going. Instead of having an airport right here in the city people would have to go to the Central Wisconsin Airport in Mosinee to be able to fly places. It just makes it a little less convenient for people that are flying. I feel that since the amount of people who use the airport isn't that great it doesn't make much sense to be spending well over $100,000 just on this simple luxury.

The small percentage of people who actually use the airport will be completely against this idea because it will make much more of a burden on those select few people. I would explain to them that the money used to keep the airport up and running could be used to help so many more people in many more meaningful ways that they need to just step back and realize that this won't
