Marshmallow Challenge

       Last week, Miss Koay ask me and  my colleagues to do a tasked with The Marshmallow Challenge. We need to finish a free standing structure in 18 minutes with using 20 sticks of spaghetti, one meter of string , and one meter of  tape to balance a small marshmallow on top of the spaghetti building .We are split into 4 people in a group. I’ve been on not so great teams. The winning team is the one that has the tallest structure measured from the table top surface to the top of the marshmallow. Teams are free to break the spaghetti, cut up the tape and string to create new structures. Teams cannot hold on to the structure when the time runs out. Those touching or supporting the structure at the end of the exercise will be disqualified.

      First we take a minutes and starting discuss in the group about the shapes of the building. The shapes that are used to build strong structures are very important. Think about the shapes that have been used to construct bridges and towers that you have seen. We do a square tower base .The marshmallows  challenge exercise is used to teach and develop individuals in the attributes of collaboration, innovation and creativity  The challenge seems simple enough: small teams have to build it in 18 minutes  . The winning team is the one that can construct the tallest freestanding structure with the marshmallow on top within the time allowed.

       Last , my group getting the tallest result, it is 26.5 cm , but we are not the winner because we took more than 18 minutes in this challenge. The winner is Nadia’s group, they done a 26cm result in this challenge .But I’m happy that I can learn the new thing in this challenge .For example, learned about the important of the team work ,sometime also need a leader to lead to how to finish this challenge ,know about the background of the  marshmallow challenge and is the chance to let us to refresh our brain to creative and  get more idea.I believe that I will use the concept of this challenge make good use in mylife.
