McDonald’s Corporation History
The world's largest chain of hamburger fast food restaurants, serving around 68 million customers daily in 119 countries. Headquartered in the United States, the company began in 1940 as a barbecue restaurant operated by Richard and Maurice McDonald in 1948. They reorganized their business as a hamburger stand using production line principles. Businessman Ray Kroc joined the company as a franchise agent in 1955. He subsequently purchased the chain from the McDonald brothers and oversaw its worldwide growth. A McDonald's restaurant is operated by a franchisee, an affiliate, or the corporation itself.
The corporation's revenues come from the rent, royalties and fees paid by the franchisees, as well as sales in company-operated restaurants. McDonald's revenues grew 27 percent over the three years ending in 2007 to $22.8 billion, and 9 percent growth in operating income to $3.9 billion. McDonald's primarily sells hamburgers, cheeseburgers, chicken, french fries, breakfast items, soft drinks, milkshakes and desserts. In response to changing consumer tastes, the company has expanded its menu to include salads, fish, wraps, smoothies and fruit. McDonald's has been growing organically, with new sites located in smaller towns, roadside developments and food court concepts in leisure parks and shopping centers.[pic 1]

McDonald’s Pakistan
History
McDonalds Pakistan is part of a leading business house in Pakistan namely the Lakson Group of Companies. McDonalds opened its first restaurant in Pakistan in September 1998 in Lahore. The launch was congregated with extraordinary zest from the citizens of Lahore, best known for their vivacity, verve and inclination for quality food. A week after successful launch of first restaurant in Lahore another restaurant was opened in Karachi.
Since then McDonald has opened the doors of its restaurants in Karachi and Lahore. There are total of 27 restaurants in 8 main cities of Pakistan (11 in Karachi, 10 in Lahore, 1 in Hyderabad, 1 in Kala Shah Kaku, 1 in Faisalabad, 1 in Sialkot, 1 in Rawalpindi & 1 in Islamabad). It is the pride of McDonald Pakistan to provide customers with same terrific and great taste, better-quality service and excellent value that is tantamount with Golden Arches globally.
Today millions of Pakistanis put their trust in McDonald. They trust the company to offer them with superior and high quality food, high standard and fast service and greater value against the money they pay.

INDUSTRY OVERVIEW
In Pakistan, fast food industry is undergoing an accelerated boom. Even though this industry has to face fierce competition still it is considered highly profitable and has managed to appeal and well received by local masses. Recent studies and their results have shown that with nearly169 million consumers, it’s the second largest industry in Pakistan. Moreover, fast food industry accounts for 16% of the total employment in manufacturing sector. An industry with such splendid dynamics has great profitability growth prospects in future too.
