Every organization contains their own history that builds their own values, cultures, and disciplines. However, there are also several equalities and differences that many corporation shares. This personal assignment will analyze the corporate information, culture, workplace, values, and differences and equalities that MacDonald’s, LG electronics Inc, and American Airline shown at their corporate sites.
McDonald’s, largest hamburger fast-food chain around the world, has three main point on their corporate site; Good-Food, Good-People and Good-Neighbors. First, their philosophy is to satisfy customer needs by providing them the good foods with great taste, modern choices and real ingredients. However, as a global food chain, McDonald’s has a huge responsibility to feed their billions of consumer in a healthy way. As their site mention, they care about their customers, so they implement nutritional profile in their menu by adding more fruits, vegetables, low-fat dairy and whole grains into their menu, and setting goals for reducing sodium, sugar, saturated fat and calories. Second, the good for their people means the commitment that McDonald’s has with their employees. Their commitment with their people is to promote diversity and inclusion, and create opportunities. This food chain organization call their workplace as global, since they are considered as part of globalization. As a global company, they have intensive workforce diversity which they have to adapt many different type of people; generations, genders, cultures, and lifestyles. Their corporate site mention that their company are guided by core values which includes behavior, actions, and decisions are made with commitment to their people based on their standards of business conduct. At their business conduct most of their standards is to create fairness, honesty and integrity. As goal, they provide equal treatment and equal employment opportunity to everyone of their team with free of harassment, abuse, violence or disrespectful behaviors. Furthermore, McDonald’s believes training is extremely important, and providing their staff and manager training and education means giving them opportunities. For this organization, opportunities is wage increase, and leadership. As their staff, most of them will begin as beginner and depending on their staff performance, their wage and job position can increase. Third, the good for neighbors means commitment to the planet and energy. McDonald’s believes being a good neighbor has being part of their heritage. Their aspiration is to develop an environmental friendly restaurants for the community, and suitability for this planet. They set as goal, increasing energy efficiency, and recycling 50% to more wastes produced by their company. In addition, they mention that the community has given them supports; therefore, they have the obligation to provide them something back. As result, this organization has establish charities houses, education and physical activities for people in need through support of Ronald McDonald House Charities.
LG Electronics Inc (LG), South Korean multinational electronics company, shows on their corporate sites that their organization main culture and value are built by four elements; keeping honest and responsible promises for their customers, creating innovations for their products and services, being passionate on satisfying their customers need, and respecting and caring their employees. First, LG Electronics vision is to become the world’s most trusted brand; therefore, they maintain the philosophy of being credible and responsible toward their customers. However, they also maintain a trust climate on the workplace by creating integrity and honesty. Second, LG has around 82,000 employees working through five divisions, Home Entertainment, Mobile Communications, Home Appliance, Air Conditioning and Energy Solution, and Vehicle Components, around the world, and innovation is the main element for those divisions. Since those five divisions show a high involvement in innovation, flexibility and technology changes, LG employees have to follow those changes, or they can be a stumbling block for the company to grow. Their corporate sites mention about their human resource principles are creating creativity, autonomy, competence, trainings and reward for their employees, so they can motivate their employees to be tolerant on changes and create innovations. Third, LG seeks talented and intelligent workers, yet they believe passion is an important skill that their employee must have to satisfy their customer. They believe being passionate will provide a satisfaction for their customer needs. If their employee works with passion, they will work hard to create quality products and service. Finally, LG Electronics respect and care their employees. On their corporate site, they mention that they are willing to help their employees to achieve financial security and a better quality of life. Even though employees’ benefits vary according to region and country, they provide their staff medical insurances, retirement plans, holiday pays, annual leave, products discounts and more. Since caring their employees personal lives is part of their values, their employees will give the best of themselves and care about the company as being part of the family.
