The Burning Bed
This movie showed pretty much every aspect dealt in an abusive relationship. So many women get involved with men who turn out to be deceitful. I don't believe it to be the women's fault, only because men tend to come off as super nice guys. Little do the women know it's all just a ploy to reel you in. Then once you get in too deep, it's just a matter of time before he starts to change and his true self is revealed.
A few examples showing signs of an abusive man were quick involvement, jealousy, aggressive, abusive, etc. The first sign was the quick involvement when he constantly wanted to be around her and also wanted to get married right away. I would assume mainly for the purpose of "owning" her. The second sign was shown when he started to get jealous and didn't like it when she would dress nicely. He felt as if everyone was looking at her, and blamed her for wanting all this attention from other men. That's when it led to the abuse. Even then he would make excuses and said his apologies and promised to never do that again. It was always one excuse after the other. She finally made effort to leave her abusive husband; she just rarely had the support she needed. Especially from family, they weren't much help at all. It's just sad how they don't see that their own child is in danger.
Another important issue shown in this movie was the action that could be taken to get away from the abuse. First, the divorce, then the protective orders, etc. It was never easy to get away from him, somehow he would find a way back in. He used guilt as one way to get back in, and she fell for it. Just so sad to me how a woman can be so dependent and weak.
All the aspects expressed in this movie, were pretty much how it is in the real world. Basically showed everything an abused woman goes through and how hard it is to get away from the abusive
