 The purpose of media is to entertain but how can that be done when you're too busy worrying
how you'll be accepted in today's society?
Have you ever wondered why there is so much violence in our society today? Have you ever
wondered if it's because of the movies, video games, or TV shows that are being watched? Every
one loves a good action film but with action comes gun shootings, fist fights and even murders
and do you ever see them getting consequences for their acts? No. And it's because of this that
the viewers get the idea that it's easy and okay to get away with these vile acts. Even though
there are warnings and ratings on these products but what's to stop them from seeing them?
Who's to say that their parents or an older acquaintance can't get it for them. If they lie about
their age, they might be able to view or purchase these products if their ID isn't being checked.
Once they do get the product, they play it or watch it like nothing is wrong. Another thing is that
we see violence as being the only way to resolve things instead of going to get help or talking
about it. The sad thing is, this isn't even the biggest of the problems the media has created; the
way you feel about yourself is worse when it should be one of the least.
To some people, image is everything but it's becoming a lot more noticeable among the world
today. As soon as the new MP3 player or Ipod is broadcast nationally, it seems like they're
already out of stock. Why is that? In this case, it's not necessarily the programming that does this
to us but it's defiantly the roots of the problem. If a product isn't being advertised in commercials
by the hottest celebrities, it's not considered "cool", if it's not the style being worn by the hottest
celebrities, it's not considered "cool" and if it isn't an activity that the hottest celebrities are
taking up, it's not considered "cool and when someone buys a product or takes up an activity that
isn't sold that way, they get looked down on. It's come to a point that many kids/teens get teased
for liking something that isn't in style which in a lot of cases leads to drastic measures such as
depression and even suicide. Even with this being a huge problem there is still one more that
should come to everyone's attention because it shouldn't be such a critical problem.
It can easily be agreed upon that the biggest message being sent out is the way you should
