I had been friends with Jorj Nennig nearly all my life. We met in kindergarten and were close ever since. Until we got in our biggest fight. It was nearly all summer that I did not talk to Jorj . I was mad at him because he liked my girlfriend. He tried to call me to work things out but I didn't want to.

One morning the phone rang. My mother came into my room and shook me until I woke. I looked at her with confusion because she had tears running down her face. She wiped he eyes and said. "Andy, Jorj is in the hospital". I asked her why and she said. "His friend was holding a gun and it went off and shot Jorge in the face." I got out of bed and got dressed fast. The ride to Akron Children's was very quiet. I was worried and mad. I was mad because I new he would not have done something stupid like that if I was with him.

We got to the hospital and all Jorjs family was in the waiting room. I walked across the room of sad faces to my friends and asked them what was going on. Luke and Chris were upset but they were making jokes so that it would not show. We talked about jorj in the bathroom until Luke's mom called us out. She told us that jorj would not make it and he only had a couple hours to live. I walked over to my mother and she started to cry. Then the doctor asked all of us "would you like to see jorj before we unplug him." Everyone that wanted to see him had to go into a different waiting room. The doctor in and explained to us how they did everything they could to save him. Jorjs mom and dad were in the room so the doctor were discussing if they wanted Jorj to be an organ donor.

The doctor then asked us all to follow him down the hall way. We all lined up outside a room. The doctor had us go in two at a time. I felt like I had a rock in my throat the whole time. As we were lined up I looked over at Luke and he was crying. His dad asked him if he was ok and Luke stormed down the hall way and out the door.

It was my turn to go in now. My mom and I opened the door to find jorj lying on the bed hooked up to a lot of machines. He had a big tube down his throat and had a big white bandage taped to his face. I stood there in shock. It did not seem real. I had been friends with this kid all my life and now his was about to end. My mom started talking to jorj. She said, "I will miss you. You were like one of my children and I love you. I will see you in heaven and please look after me and Andy. I wanted to say something but my mouth would not let me.

Me and my mother left the room and went back to the waiting room. We waited in silent for around a half hour then my mom had to leave. I stayed to wait on my friends to come out from seeing him. I sat there as my friends came in one by one knowing they were feeling the same pay as I was.

They all got done seeing him and we were all in the same room together. Jorj's mom and dad came in and said, "They are going to unplug jorj after you leave." They told us that they decided to make him an organ donor. Jorjs mom said, "A little boy that needs a heart is going to gat jorjs." I didn't know what to think about it.

Luke's mom was talking about how it was not all bad that jorj died because so many other kids are going to live now because of jorjs organs. I did not understand that at all. I felt anger the whole way home because I didn't understand why my best friend had to die.

When we got home things were weird. I had to call everyone to tell them the news. I was very upset but I didn't let people see it. My friends and I hung out a lot the next couple days. We all stayed the night at Luke's the night before the calling hours. I became a lot closer with my friends because they were feeling the same pain I was felling. When we were at Luke's house jorjs parents called me.
