Mental Health Assessment Paper

A.R. presents as an amicable, overweight 45-year-old woman diagnosed with undifferentiated-type schizophrenia. She was dressed eccentrically in winter clothing, including a coat and toboggan, even though we were indoors for the interview. She sat quietly on the couch, somewhat slumped, picking at the loose threads on her shirt.

When she was first admitted, she had a strong belief that her husband was out to get her. She would wake up in the middle of the night and call the cops saying that her husband had broken in and was trying to hurt her. A.R. believes that she has been getting better since she started taking Clozaril, and says that she has not had any delusions about her husband breaking in since she started on the treatment.

She also reports that she sleeps better now with the new medication and that she usually gets a full 8 hours or more of sleep a night. She also reports to trying to take naps during the day when she can. She denies having any dreams that she can remember, but said she used to in the past. She furthermore claims that the only problem she has is waking up in the morning having to go to the bathroom.

A.R. is married and has a daughter who lives in the area. She was adopted as a child, but claims to still have contact with her biological parents. She has one biological brother and one biological sister. A.R. is very family-oriented and says that her family is the most important thing in her life.

A.R. has a high school education though she claims to have a Master's Degree. A.R. also claims to have been in the Navy for "a couple years." She is currently unemployed and claims to receive her income from disability and social security.

A.R. seems to have some issue with her weight, saying that it is what she likes least about herself. Weighing around 350 lbs., she stated that she has some limitations with mobility
