The increasing use of illegal drugs has been a subject that compels politicians to make statements and instigate punitive legislation, however, the numbers continue to increase. Meth is an addicting drug that works on the brain and spinal cord and interferes with normal neurotransmission. Dopamine is the main neurotransmitter that is affected and without it you do not have the feeling of a job well done, or the feeling that your life is meaningful.
Meth is not only being imported but also produced meth labs are widely found in abandoned garages and buildings. 24% of teenagers under 18 use or have used meth and the stats are increasing rapidly.
Most recently a meth lab was busted in Meigs County. It would have started small but would have grown fast. Meth labs are usually found out by the creators going to a local grocery store or Wal-Mart and buying large quantities of supplies found in meth making. While many are store officials actually calling and triggering a suspicious person to the police others are the users not getting off their "high" long enough to buy supplies and make themselves suspicious.
Meth not only has a major effect on the user but also the environment. Crews around the bay area spent months cleaning up the damage of meth cooking on Garlough Drive. Police say the busting of "super labs" could cause a rise in burglaries and robberies so that people can pay for their drugs which prices are rising on.
I do not believe that being tried and convicted for five accounts of meth dealing and getting only 22 years in jail, not counting for any charges of distributing drugs in a school zone is putting a very strong stop to drugs, especially when meth ingredients can be bought at your local store. With jail time being five years for intent to sell meth I don't see a very quick stop coming to the entire drug dealing and making, a kid can steal a car and gets usually five to ten years. Jail
