Methodology

  1. Chemicals

There are some chemicals that have to be used during experimental work during the research

  1. Apparatus

There are some apparatus that have to used during the experimental work in this research

  1. Media preparation

The EFB was collected at a nearby oil palm company, Felda Lepar Hilir 2, Kuantan, Pahang. After

the collection of sample,  the EFB was washed with deionized water to remove dirt and debris

That attached it and was cut into smaller pieces. For 3 consecutive days, the EFB was oven-

dried at 80°C . By using a fibre grinder, the dried EFB were grounded to approximately 0.5mm ~

10mm. The particle size was determine by using a sieve tray.

  1. EFB Pretreatment – Acid Hydrolysis

EFB (10 g ) was added into different concentration of sulphuric acid ( H2SO4) 1%, 2%, 4%, 6%

and autoclaved at 130°C, pressure 10 psi for 1 hour. After  reaching the required reaction time,

the reaction mixture was centrifuged for 10 minutes, 12 000 rpm and 10°C. Then, the solid was

separated from the liquid  phase by filtration.

1.5. Dinitrosalisalicylic acid (DNS)

The reducing sugar are determined by using dinitrosalicylic Acid (DNS) by standard glucose
