Where could he be? He hasn't been here in 2 weeks!” Miles wondered as he looked around the colorful carpet with the ABC’s in each square. Ms. Smith had already told him to pay attention to the story, but he just couldn't. He wondered where Collin had been all week. Miles knew that Collin has not been at school before because he had to do “treatments”. He wasn't sure what his mom and his teacher meant by “treatments”, but he assumed he was sick. Collin has been Miles’s best friend since kindergarten. They love to play outside together and the always sit together at the carpet during reading time.

Miles went home and asked his mom where Collin was. His mom just told him that Collin was sick and he needed to rest. When Miles went to the kitchen to eat his snack, his mom went into the kitchen as well. His mom said, “Miles, we are going to go see Collin tomorrow.” Miles was so happy that he gets to go see his friend because he hasn't seen him in a while, but his mom continues. She said, “ Collin has a kind of sickness that is very hard to deal with. He doesn't have hair anymore from his treatments.” Miles said that it was ok because he was happy he gets to go to Collin’s house. Miles’s mom tells him that they will not be going to Collin’s house because with his sickness, he is in the hospital.

The next day, Miles is very anxious at school. He can not wait to go and see Collin. He still didn't understand why he had to be in the hospital but he was sure that he would be very happy to see him. Mrs. Smith tells the class that Collin may not be back for quite a while. Miles told Mrs. Smith that he was going to see Collin after school; Mrs. Smith says, “tell Collin hello for me and that we miss him very much!”.

When the day was finally over, Miles jumped into the car! When Miles and his mom get to the hospital , they rode the elevator up to Collins room. Miles raced to the door, but his mom
