AIM: to determine which liquid will preserve the apple best.
HYPOTHESIS: the apple will be preserved the best by the vinegar.
EQUIPMENT:
o 4 pink lady apples
o 4 sealed containers
o 500mL of white vinegar (Cornwells)
o 500mL of mentholated spirits
o 5oomL of tap water
o Knife
o Measuring jug
METHOD:
1. Peal 4 pink lady apples with a knife
2. Place each apple in a sealed container
3. Measure 500mL of vinegar in a measuring jug and poor it in to one sealed container
4. Repeat this with the mentholated spirits and water
5. Record results

Wednesday February 13th start experiment
Thursday February 14th Ð'- Wednesday Feb 20th record results and write in logbook
Feb 16th Saturday Ð'- complete risk assessment
Wednesday 20th February start experiment again (2nd time)
Thursday 21st February -Wednesday 27th February Ð'- record results in logbook
Sat 23rd Ð'- Sunday 24th February- complete introduction
Wednesday 27th February start experiment again
Thursday 28th February Ð'- Wednesday 5th march Ð'- record results and write in logbook
8th Ð'- 9th march Ð'- write the discussion and conclusion
EXPERIMENT DESIGN:
Control: container with no liquid and an apple.
This control has exactly the same conditions of the 3 containers with different liquids but allow the apple to preserve its self with nothing to protect it.
Dependent variable: darkness over
