"Money Hungry" by Sharon G. Flake. The following book is about a thirteen year old girl named Raspberry Hill and her mother. Raspberry is known to be obsessed with money and will do almost anything to get it. Unfortunately, it's not a rumor, but it is true for one reason. Raspberry and her mother use to be homeless, and when they finally got a place in the projects, she promised herself she would never go back to being homeless again. She starts to make money the best she can, saving and never spending it.
In this book Raspberry goes through a lot of obstacles with her mother, her friends, and of course money. It all started when Raspberry lends her friend Ja'nae $200 dollars. Ja'nae promises Raspberry that she will pay her back as soon as she gets it. She just needed it to replace the money that she stole from her grandfather. The girls decide to start a house cleaning business. Ja'nae is supposed to give all the money she makes to Raspberry until she pays off her debt. Unfortunately, she doesn't and the first time they get paid $50 dollars a piece. Raspberry is mad and ends up stealing the money Ja'nae makes from her. Unfortunately, even though Raspberry has a great love for money, she isn't good at getting it the wrong way. Before Raspberry gets home with the money she starts to feel bad, so she turns around, takes it back and returns it. Later on Ja'nae's grandfather calls Raspberry's mother. He tells her the Raspberry is a thief and that she stole $200 dollars from him. Also that she stole $50 dollars from Ja'nae. Raspberry's mother in return finds all the money that Raspberry has been saving and throws it out the window of their apartment, all because she thinks it is stolen. After the fact, Ja'nae's grandfather calls back to apologize for everything. He said he spoke to Ja'nae and in fact Raspberry isn't the thief Ja'nae is. In result to all the
