Mohan's Dilemma
Mohan was a Administration professional in Timbuktu. He had joined Miller's Ltd, from a reputed MNC as the Admin Manager. His major reason for deciding to join Miller's was to get first hand experience on setting up things from scratch and setting up offices and administration team. For a few months, while Miller's was setting up shop in Timbuktu, everything was going fine. Mohan was getting all the support from his managers, peers and other members in the organization.
In fact he got lot of recognition for the work he had done single handedly. He also got out of the turn pay rises, and promotions.
In order to structure the organization further, Miller's recruited a Managing Director, Rahul. As soon as Rahul joined Miller's he started interfering with Mohan's work. He wanted to change all the processes, vendors, and the way things were done. In spite of Managing director being responsible for all round well being of Miller's in Timbuktu, he was absolutely focused on administration matters.
Mohan was very confused. Although he knew that the management of Miller's would listen to him for the credibility he has built for himself in the system, he could not possibly break the chain of command and by-pass his immediate boss.
He started giving into the whims and fancies of Rahul. Due to this, the quality of admin work started to suffer. The other employees of Miller's, who earlier were very happy with Mohan, started getting dissatisfied with everything around them.
Although Mohan was very satisfied with the exposure he had received so far, and the perks along with them, he had started thinking of looking out for a new job.
