The Case of the Lazy Factory Workers
This case involves some workers of X Company and their antics during work hours. X Company is a company that manufactures metal products. Management has been having difficulties with their production since they sometimes weren’t able to meet their expected production for the day. Looking deeper into the problem why they have been having difficulties meeting their targets, management found out that some workers were playing around during work hours. These lazy workers are not doing their job well. They have been acting like supervisors just wandering around the factory. Some have even been caught sleeping in their workstations and some sleep in the restroom. These really caused problems with the company since this causes bottlenecks in the production process. Management have tried solving this problem by closely monitoring the production of these workers. The problem only ceased for a short period of time and came back as soon as management eased up on monitoring these workers. Since the company can’t afford to primarily focus its attention to these few lazy workers, management decides to give a heart-to-heart talk to these workers. Management aimed to changed these workers’ mentality of just working through the 8 hours needed of them. Management also stressed the importance of their outputs in the survival of the company and told these workers to get their acts together or else the company might be forced to discontinue their services since they have been acting only as a burden to the company. The heart-to-heart talk brought so far better results than closely monitoring them.
