STUDENT SERVICES
The student service center is one of the most important areas a student attending Mt. Sac can have at their disposal. Our scholastic careers can be made or broken on our knowledge of the campus, facilities, faculty, programs and school expectations. While doing our research and interviews about the student services center, we were able to see exactly what portion of campus life is in this important hub of information and accessibility. By knowing exactly what services are available, we as students can easily become more prepared and suited to schedule and attend courses and have the full advantage of college life at our disposal.
There are a number of different services and centers available to students in the lower level of the student center located in building 9B. All of these services have their own extensions and office hours, which are all outlined in the Mt. San Antonio College Catalog for the corresponding year. All of these services are absolutely free to students unless there is a processing, admissions, sign-up or late free.
The Admissions & Records office is one of the most important and necessary offices for students. The admissions office which also hold the school records is the first place you have to visit before you can even attend the school. Students must submit and application for admissions to be able to attend courses. The admissions office will give you a permit, and student number and can then help to establish a personal history for each student.
Once you have an established account with the school, you can use touch-tone dialing to add and drop classes, register, update and change your personal preferences and options. The admissions office also keeps an ongoing history of personal information such as name, address, social security numbers and any changes. Also available is transcript and enrollment verifications, petitions and reclassifications.
Also in the service center is the advising center. The advising center is a hub of information and another great service available to students. Within the walls of the advising center is a complete library of college and university catalogs. These catalogs can help students find out what requirements are necessary for admission of other schools, or just to find out information for research. You can also receive a complimentary copy of your student transcripts which are available to you online, but you have the option to simply walk in and request a copy. Scholarship and career information is also available in the advising center. If you need a Fafsa form, a BOG form or if you're simply looking for campus or outside work; the advising center provides it all.
The assessment center is the base for the placement and career assessment center. Here, you can take your placement tests for Math, English and reading which will put you in the appropriate and corresponding course for said subject. The career assessment portion will test and measure a student's abilities and interest to help you make a career choice which in conjunction with the advising center could find you a job. You can make an appointment with the office via phone or visit the center in person. The assessment center is yet another necessary and crucial service for students of Mt. Sac.
Mt. Sac's Bridge Program is based around increasing a students scholastic and personal success. Personalized training and assistance help students to focus and hone their skills in a learning community.
Students are accepted into the program based on academic need. If you are accepted into the Bridge Program, you will be enrolled in classes that overlap and link with shared concepts and professors. In this group setting, students are able to share their personal experiences in addition to their knowledge to help the betterment of the group as they learn how to function in the college setting. These students are encouraged by other offices on campus, counselors and staff, all of which provide personal, sometimes one-on-one help to students in the program.
This program is perfect for individuals who may find themselves confused and undecided about school and career choices and who would like to learn about both in a friendly, personal and encouraging environment.
We also visited the Bursar's Office and Photo ID kiosk located on the lower level of the student services center near the miracle mile entrance. This small office can be easy to miss, but is as
