Muddy Friday

It was a rainy day that Friday, but later before school came to an end the sky cleared. That meant that track practice would not be as difficult. 2:30pm came around and my teammates and I were headed out the door not knowing that day would go down as the funniest day ever in track history. Those of us who threw discus had to make the longest journey of all. Our school was under construction so we walked around the land that was being worked on. Now being that we were in the very back of our school grounds where all the dirt was, we were rather used to getting dirty, but today was different. That day I threw 101ft and broke my record by 11ft and I was feeling really good. So a couple girls and I stayed back to throw a few more times.

We didn't want to lag too much behind so we started to leave. We noticed that there was a quicker way to get back into school, and that we would beat the people who had left before us. So we began our walk, and everything felt normal. On this short trip we hit an area where obviously this was just dirt pilled on top of dirt saturated with the earlier rain. It was sticky at first, but still manageable to walk across. It seemed the further we walked, the deeper we seemed to me sinking. Everything in my body said "GO BACK!", "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" ,but I ignored it and continued. Before I knew it, I was helping my teammate get unstuck, and helping me get cemented in the brown sticky mess myself. I could not believe that I was stuck and all of our teammates were walking by and laughing. This was a complete nightmare and it seemed to never end.

As she began to return the favor of freeing me from the dingy grips of that mud slowly, but surely I seemed to lose my balance all the while my legs were still stuck deep in the filthy goop. In the process of being freed I began to topple back, and then forward then I fell face first.
